Needwood Golf Course is located in Derwood, Maryland just a short drive from nearby Bethesda. There is a traditional 18-hole course and a 9-hole executive course at the Needwood Golf Course facility. The 18-hole golf course features 6,254 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 70 along with a course rating of 69.1 and a slope rating of 113. You’ll find that this is a very well maintained public course that is operated by the Montgomery County Revenue Authority. The well-conditioned winter rye fairways showcase the flat, open front nine while the challenging back nine features holes that are hilly and tight. One of the signature holes is #18, a 433-yard, par 4, which leaves you with a downhill lie after your tee shot. From there your approach shot will be over a large pond to a well-bunkered green.

The Needwood executive course is great for players of all abilities and is especially good for beginners. This quick par-3 dominated 9-hole course is something that golfers might actually be able to play during a longer lunch break. The Needwood executive nine only has two par 4’s and no par 5 holes. It is ideal for working on your approach shots and short game.

Needwood Golf Course offers a driving range, pro shop, a practice putting green, and snack bar. Designed by Lindsay B. Ervin, ASGCA, the Needwood golf course opened in 1972. Michael Kenny manages the course as the Golf Professional and lessons, league play and outings are available. Visitors will find that parking is not a problem and prices at Needwood Golf Course are very reasonable.
