Bethesda TransportationThe metro red line serves Bethesda with stations in downtown Bethesda, on the NIH campus and at Grosvenor just beyond the beltway.
Travel by car is also very convenient. Access of downtown D.C. is quick and easy along Massachusetts Avenue, along McArthur Boulevard, or down River Road and Wisconsin Avenue, depending on your starting point. Massachusetts Avenue is a particularly good choice both from the points of view of speed and aesthetics. A wide and quite grand avenue, Massachusetts Ave is lined by Embassies as you approach downtown.
For travel to Virginia or to Baltimore, pick up the Beltway (I-495), or to travel north to Gaithersburg and Germantown and on to Frederick, take Route 270. Ride-on busses link the Metro stops at Bethesda, NIH and Grosvenor to neighborhoods that are beyond walking distance.
